The idea of a woman who loves and is loved – this was the inspiration of Sanija Reja to re-do the armchairs. She chose velvet in a bright red colour that represent passion & life and has described the idea for her armchair puzzle in one word: LOVE.

Sanija Reja Aske X Cup of Tea
From our stock, Sanija chose two armchairs with an interesting shape of backrests, waiting to be reloved back to life. After receiving our dimensions, she started preparing the conceptual design for the renovation of armchairs and the cut. In the meanwhile, we started to work on the chairs from our side. We removed the old foam and other materials that are hidden inside to get to the frame itself. We sanded the wooden parts (originally, they were painted black), coated them with oil, upholstered the frame with new foams and prepared it for a new upholstery, design by Sanija.
After receiving Sanija's drawings, we cut the fabric and carefully sewed a "love puzzle" from the sketches. On the back, we used additional fabric for finishing touches, glued a protective felt on the legs and added badges "Sanija Reja Aske" and "Reloved by CUP OF TEA".
Sanija describes fashion and industrial design as very similar: research, inspiration and sketches, sketches, sketches. Like us, Sanija strives to make quality clothes and accessories that have a story and are not discarded after one season.
The designer describes her taste for decor as minimalist and effective, and appreciates Cup of Tea products, because they are made accurately, carefully and with love. Velvet has always been close to Sanija because of its rich texture and she happily includes it in her collections.
The year 2020 was marked by a global epidemic and lockdown, and as Sanija shared: “Events in the world touched me because time has, so to speak, stopped, and we were all forced to look within ourselves where we are and where we are going. I tried to approach design from different angles than usual.”
We are looking forward to the next collection of Sanija Reja Aske, which we are sure will be even better than the previous excellent collections. Sanija Reja, winner of the first LJFW WOW award (for the winning Perunka Svarunka collection), likes to reflect cultural tradition in her collections, but she is most attracted to things and details that seem unimportant to others.
